At Skydive Spaceland, we want you to have the best skydiving experience possible! We’re one of the largest skydiving centers in the world with a purpose-built, private airfield in Houston and top-of-the-line everything to ensure you have a safe, exciting, comfortable skydiving experience. Not all drop zones can deliver the same top-quality experience we can, so we’ve put together a comparison of Skydive Spaceland vs. a typical small drop zone below to help you make the best choice when you select your skydiving center.
Our Clewiston, Florida, location does not have a private airfield, but it carries all of the other amenities as our Houston location as well as a beautiful view of Lake Okeechobee from altitude.
| US | THEM |
| Private 134-acre facility designed exclusively for skydiving. Our Houston facility hosted the 2009 USPA National Skydiving Championships—the largest skydiving competition in the world. | Shared municipal airport with other aircraft operations competing for space |
| Open 7 days a week, able to handle up to 300 first-time jumpers in a day (large groups are welcome!) | Days/hours often limited, often fewer than 20 people can make their first jump in a day. |
| Multiple top-quality aircraft (deHavilland Super Otters and Cessna Super Caravans) maintained by on-site, full-time mechanics. Up to 11 first-time jumpers can jump from a single flight! | Smaller aircraft with limited lift capacity (fewer people can jump per flight and per day) |
Large facility offering all the amenities:
|
Small aircraft hangar/outbuilding, often without running water, flushing toilets, or air conditioning |
| State-of-the-art skydiving equipment for tandem skydiving, individual instruction, and gear rental | Older skydiving gear that may not have all of the latest safety features |
| Top-quality skydiving, canopy relative work, and wingsuit instructors and instructor training (instructors come here from around the world to train). | |
| Modern, complete Skydiver Training Program that takes you all the way to your basic skydiving license with free video on every skydive. You will achieve your A license at a lower total cost than many skydiving centers. | Traditional Accelerated Freefall training program developed in the 1980s that includes fewer traning jumps and initially requires two instructors and a higher cost per jump. Video costs extra. Upon completion of this program, you will still be up to 15 jumps away from your basic skydiving license. |
| Several competitive teams train at Skydive Spaceland and offer free coaching, including multiple gold, silver, and bronze medalists. | Often limited to no competitive skydiving teams helping coach newer jumpers |
