TEXAS STATE RECORD 150-WAY SEQUENTIAL INVITATIONAL: April 18-22, 2007

The planning for this exciting event is ongoing, and we hope to make it a “First Class,” “Don’t Miss” record-breaking skydiving weekend.

We are bringing together some of the most successful big way organizers, a top-notch fleet of turbine aircraft, and experienced formation pilots to one of the biggest, most modern drop zones in the USA.

We have been in the process of recruiting the most experienced big way skydivers and staff to this event since early 2006. Our search for the best and most qualified participants will continue until the event starts. We still want YOU to register for this event if you feel that you have the skills, ability to be a team player, and the desire to always do your personal best on each and every jump.

For more information or to register for slot consideration, see www.texasstaterecord.com.

PAST EVENTS

This skydiving season we have had several successful events at Spaceland and we have also broken several State records as well as our own personal student records.

Parachutist over Phorty “POPS” state record attempt was so close it hurt.  On July 7th-9th there were wonderful organizers with great attempts and if the weather would have cooperated with us, we would have beaten the Texas record that we currently hold (63).  Thank you to all POPS who participated and look forward to the next record attempt.

One of the summer’s biggest events, Skyfest, blasted off with over 300 skydivers registered, making over 3,000 skydives in 4 days!  Skydivers traveled across the U.S. and from across the world from places such as Columbia, Venezuela, Italy, Vietnam, Mexico and as far away as Japan.  There was “something for everyone” as Spaceland brought in over 10 different skydiving aircraft to jump from and had organizers for all disciplines.  There were over 20 different manufacturers of skydiving equipment presenting and demonstrating the benefits of their products to the skydiver.  Spaceland’s scholarship winners were Kari Livanec and Robert Real who proved they have the desire to become the best skydivers they can be and in the future will give back to the sport itself.

Spaceland boasts several NEW RECORDS.

Can you say “girl power”?  The Woman’s Texas State Record was broken during Skyfest where Kristen Johnson and Kim Murphy organized 30 of Texas’ top women skydivers to break the old Women’s State Record.  The largest “all female” skydiving formation was built over Spaceland in Houston Texas.  Congratulations ladies!

Also Anomaly’s Trent Alkek and Stephen Boyd Jr. organized the largest Head-Down formation over the state.  This takes amazing talent to fly 16 people in a vertical orientation, linked together to form a pre-described formation.  A new Texas State Record for Freeflying!  Nice job guys now go out and bring back the GOLD at the U.S. Nationals.

And last but not least, Spaceland broke its tandem record for the most tandems in one day.  We have been close several times but we just introduced 83 tandem students in one day to our wonderful sport.  Thanks to the staff and customers who made this possible.  YAHOO, this is one record that we look forward to beating!

There are always more pictures added so please visit in your spare time.

There will be articles in Parachutist describing in more detail each event.  So stay tuned and read your Parachutist and Skydiving Magazines.  Thanks for your time and see you soon at Spaceland.
